Oh dear, she was definitely lost. Ariel looked up at the sign indicating that she was in front of the dining hall. She had been attempting to find the girl's dormitories, but, as usual, had gotten lost. This whole place was so confusing. Ariel wished that she was back at home. She knew where everything was and this whole world was completely different. Even the people were different. The students weren't just nice to everyone. No, they liked to start drama and make up stories, especially about the fables. The fables, in the students' eyes, came out of nowhere and just expected to fit in. Of course, the fables really had no choice in the matter or they would have been back in their homeland already.
Ariel pulled her white peacoat around her, feeling the chilly wind bite at her. Ariel had a soft bright teal scarf around her neck, setting off her loose wavy red hair. As usual, it seemed like Ariel had just come from the beach, except for the fact that she was freezing her butt off and knew that going to the beach right now would result in hypothermia. Instead of wearing leggings, Ariel let her porcelain legs show from beneath the hem of her light blue dress. The wind pulled at the bottom of her dress, forcing Ariel to smooth it down. She needed to get out of the nasty weather. It was never like this back home...
Ariel's stomach growled and she glanced back up at the dining hall. Maybe there was a reason she had ended up here instead of the library. Her stomach had lead her here. Eager to get out of the cold, Ariel opened the door to the dining hall, immediately greeted by a blast of hot air. She glanced around, finding the line for food. Not familiar with the process, Ariel just watched the humans as they got their food to see how it was done. Back home, they had Chef Louis to take care of their meals, but this food didn't look appetizing at all. However, since she was hungry, Ariel got into the line and got her food, avoiding the seafood that they had laid out. Now was the next challenge. Ariel looked around the dining hall, trying to figure out where to sit. She bit her lip. This was way too difficult...

Seattle... was proving to be a cold place. Stepping in from the cold, she shook off the fresh snow that had been falling all morning. She unbuttoned her black wool coat, loosening the double buttons. She slipped out of its thick black fabric to reveal her dark blue knit sweater, cream colored camisole, her new dark denim and slightly faded skinny jeans that were tucked into her gray leg warmers that were also tucked into her brown ankle boots. Her fingers smooth out the light gray scarf as her blue eyes scanned around the hall. As she nervously wiggled her nose, she tugged off her gray beret and combed out her red hair.
She continued to walk further into the room, her boots tapping lightly on the hardwood. A small hint of red appeared on her cheeks as she spotted people turning their attention towards her. Her gaze turned towards the direction she was head, the food cart. She grabbed a tray and grabbed a salad. Giving the lunch helper the money and turned to where the seats were. A small gulp escaped her. This was worst than walking the plank on Captain Hook's ship.
Slowly, she walked down the aisle, looking for an open seat. She frowned as she was going to resort to the empty table in the back. She slowly sank down in a seat and opened the salad container. Her blue eyes scanned around the room until she spotted another red head. She looked pretty lost. Out of the kindness of her heart, she waved her hand signaling for the girl to come sit down next to her.

Ariel almost missed the hand waving for her, but managed to notice it out of the corner of her eye. With a small sigh of relief, she headed towards the other girl. She had red hair, like Ariel, and had a vaguely familiar aura. Was it too much to think that this girl might be in the same situation as Ariel? Could she be one of the fables, too? She decided right away not to say anything about it unless the other girl brought it up. You never knew who was on whose side around this school.
She slid onto the seat across from the girl and placed her tray down in front of her. With a small smile, Ariel decided that giving a name wouldn't be bad. In fact, it would probably help. "Hey," she started, slightly awkwardly, though her voice grew steadily more confident, "My name's Ariel." Well that was quite the conversation starter. But then again, ever since she had come to this odd world, Ariel hadn't been very sociable, she guessed. She might as well start now.

Wendy smiled when the girl noticed her. At least she didn't have to keep waving her hand like a maniac. That would be real classy. She already stood out for being apart of the large group of 'new kids'. Though Wendy adjusted pretty quickly. Since her home wasn't too different. "Hello." She greeted as the girl took the seat across from her.
"Oh, my name is Wendy. Wendy Darling." She replied with a small smile. She cringed slightly as she slowly started to realize how weird sounding her name was. "But I just go by Wendy."

"I looked pretty pathetic over there just standing and looking at everyone, didn't I?" Ariel joked, knowing how ridiculous she probably had seemed. However, she had never really been in that situation before. When she was with her sisters, there was always someone to sit with and with Eric... Well, as a princess, there was always someone who wouldn't mind keeping you company during a meal. She had never had to deal with not knowing where to go or who to talk to before.
"Yeah, I don't really know anyone around here. I'm new, actually, so instead of letting me sit at their tables, everyone just kind of stares at me in that odd way that all the students here seem to have perfected." She was talking too much. Ariel quickly shut her mouth. If Wendy was one of those kids, she would probably take offense to the fact that Ariel didn't really like most of the students' attitudes. Ariel really hoped that Wendy wouldn't take offense. She didn't want to have to find another table to sit at.

Wendy opened her dressing package and poured the contents over her salad. She stirred it slowly. She raised the fork to her mouth and gave a small laugh. "They are pretty rude aren't they. I would rather face a band of pirates." She explained with a small smile.
"I'm new as well." She added with a reassuring smile. "Just arrived..." She shook her head and sighing softly. "Would give anything to go home."

Ariel tore up her skinless chicken breast into small shreds with her fork and placed them in her own salad before opening her dressing and drizzling that over it. There's nothing like a chicken caesar salad and if the dining hall wasn't going to serve it, Ariel was going to make her own. It didn't take a lot to satisfy Ariel's appetite. In fact, she didn't really eat a lot at all, contributing to her small frame, not to mention her exercise of swimming whenever she got the chance.
"I know exactly what you mean," Ariel agreed. Wendy had to be one of the fables. It just made sense. "My whole family's at home. I didn't even get a chance to say good bye, really." Not that Ariel would be gone forever. No, if she had her way, everyone would get back to where they belonged and soon. However, she had no clue exactly how any of them could get out of this place.

Wendy nodded, "Yeah. I ran away from home. And I was about to return when I ended up here." She whispered softly. There isn't anything that she wouldn't give to see her mother and father again. "At least I have my brothers with me... and Peter... wherever they've ran off too." She added with a small smile.
"Anyway, off that such awful subject." She added, her smile growing wider. "How's your salad?" She asked with a small laugh. "I'm sorry, I have no idea what to talk about..."

Ariel laughed a little at Wendy's change of subject. She shrugged. "Salad's salad. At least it's not that horrific salmon they have over there." Ariel made a face. She made it a point not to eat seafood. She would feel too much like a cannibal if she ever ate any animal that came from the sea. That was her home and she was too much related to anything scaly to ever consume anything of the type.
Noticing that it was warmer inside, Ariel unbuttoned her peacoat, revealing that her dress underneath was embroidered with white thread, making small little designs with tiny white beads. She wore a long string of pearls around her neck and little pearl studs in her ears. Simple, yet classy. "What about yours? Salady enough for you?" she joked, grinning. The food didn't look too good here and that's why Ariel had settled on a salad. She figured she couldn't go wrong with that.

Wendy gave her a relieved smile when Ariel continued on with the conversation. Wendy almost forgot how much fun it was when talking to another girl. She had been surrounded by boys for so long, she almost forgot how nice it was to actually have a talk with someone other than a boy. "Yes, my salad is very Salady." She remarked with a small giggle.
"Well its the only thing that looks safe in the cart." She added with a shake of her head. "My brothers would enjoy anything that is over there. They would eat anything." She added with a small wistful smile.

Ariel smiled. "Boys usually do eat anything that people put in front of them. They're human garbage disposals. My... partner, Eric, will eat anything." Of course, Eric and Ariel were really married and had been together for a while now, but Ariel wasn't exactly sure how a married couple would go over in this world. None of the girls she had met so far were married, so Ariel figured she should just introduce Eric as her partner. It was vague enough that it wouldn't cause an uproar of any kind.
"By the way, I might sound crazy for asking this since it's basically freezing outside, but do you have any idea if this school has a swimming pool? Preferably indoor, I think, with the weather around here." Ariel needed a swimming fix. Besides, it helped her to think if she was in her own element. It was much more relaxing.

Wendy's laughter grew louder, "That they are." She agreed. A small smile appeared on her face at the mention of Eric. "Your Partner? Is that what they call those here?" She asked softly as she glanced around. People were still staring, not that she minded anymore. It seemed that in Ariel she found a new friend.
"I bet Eric is far more sophisticated than my brothers. They would rather play with pirates and Indians than have tea or sit up straight." She remarked with an amused shrug.

Ariel grinned at the mention of Wendy's brothers. They sounded like fun. Ariel had never felt like she had to be proper. Sure, it came naturally for her, but if she wanted to have a little fun, she never refrained just because it wouldn't be seen as proper. Might as well live a little. Of course, she figured that boys would probably have different versions of fun than girls. Ariel would never want to play with pirates, but that was just the difference between girls and boys.
"If you don't mind me asking..." Ariel started, her voice lower so that the surrounding tables couldn't hear, "Where are you from? What story?" Ariel wasn't familiar with all the fables's stories, but she wanted to know who was from which one. She should probably check out the library book and read the stories, just to make herself familiar with all the other situations people were in.

Wendy paused when she was asked story she was from. The question sort of caught her off guard. She didn't look at her life like she was from some story that was made up, it made her feel... unreal... it sent a small shiver down her spine. "I'm from Peter Pan. A story about a boy who doesn't want to grow up. For a long while I didn't either." She explained with a small shrug.
"We fly, literally fly, off to Never Neverland and we fight pirates, play with Indians, talk to mermaids... they were actually quite rude to me... I still have no idea why." She added with a small smile. "Save Tink, she's a fairy, from death. and loads more. I was going to go home to London when something went wrong..."
Her blues went back to her, and took a bite of her salad. "What about you?" She asked, now curious. Just the other day she spent a little time in the Library, reading all the story in the Fairy Tale section.

"That sounds lovely." Ariel would have to read that one. It sounded interesting and not growing up was definitely something that intrigued her. Of course, mermaids had a longer life span than normal humans and that didn't go away when Ariel lost her fins, so she could understand not wanting to grow up. Besides that, most humans had a fascination with eternal life. From what Ariel knew, they have been searching for the secret to eternal life for a long time.
"Me? The Little Mermaid. That's why I've been trying to find the pool around here. I feel comfortable in water. After you used to be a mermaid, nothing feels the same anymore. Legs are still vaguely odd, even after years of practice with them." In the beginning, legs were painful for Ariel to walk on. They felt like daggers, but after the curse was broken and Ariel regained her voice, it wasn't painful to walk anymore.
